The St. Louis Area Agency on Aging, a division of the City of St. Louis Department of Human Services, is announcing the 19th annual “Spring Jubilee” in celebration of Older Americans Month in May.
This year’s event will take place on Friday, May 13, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Upsilon Omega Foundation, 3900 Goodfellow Blvd., 63120. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. This event is free to all City of St. Louis residents who are 60 years old or older.
May was first proclaimed as “Senior Citizens Month” in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy, and was later changed to “Older Americans Month” by President Jimmy Carter. The month of May has been designated to honor our nation’s more than 34 million older Americans and the contributions the have made and continue to make to our great nation.
This year’s Spring Jubilee theme is: “Blaze a Trail”. Local media personality Johnny Rabbitt will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. The lineup will include music from a local DJ Big Papa G for the attendee’s listening and dancing pleasure, line dancing groups, and other entertainment. A free lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.
Parking is available and free. Transportation for groups of five or more can be provided thru the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging for a small donation.
Reservation for the lunch and/or transportation can be made by contacting the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging at 314-612-5918. Reservations must be made by 5:00 p.m. on April 29, 2016.
