The Zeta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is hosting Project CRADLE Care Health Fair and Community Baby Shower to promote healthy babies and healthy families.
The event will be held Jan. 23, 2016, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the YMCA O’Fallon Park Recreation Complex located at 4343 West Florissant Ave., St. Louis, MO 63115.
This event is part of their national initiative, Project Reassurance Healthy Generations: Project CRADLE Care. Project CRADLE Care is a prenatal education and resource program that seeks to improve pregnancy outcomes in high-risk communities by increasing the number of women of childbearing age who receive adequate prenatal education and prenatal care, and who better understand proper infant care and child development. This event takes place in conjunction with National Birth Defects Awareness Month.
Sigma Gamma Rho will be partnering with various community agencies to offer financial wellness information, various health screenings and education, as well as nutrition and fitness presentations. Guests who attend are encouraged to make an in-kind donation of baby items or monetary donations to support The Haven of Grace during the Community Baby Shower. Haven of Grace is a local nonprofit organization that provides a safe, nurturing home, educational programs and long-term support for mothers and children.
The goal is to collect and purchase 122 items from their agency wish list.
